Winyates Primary School
Meet our Team
I first wanted to be a teacher when I spent summer holidays helping my dad in his school, getting his classroom ready! I would boss all the pretend children around and write on the blackboard loudly! I have been so lucky to meet some very exciting people in my life and each one of them inspires me to be the best version of myself that I can! We have a wonderful school and I feel very proud of the school as the place it is now.
About me...
Mrs C Firth
Excuive Head Teacher
From an early age, I enjoyed helping others and teaching was a natural choice for me. My own primary school days were happy ones and I remember feeling proud when I learnt new things and achieved successes, however small. I want your children to feel the same sense of pride and achievement about their time at Winyates. Away from school I enjoy keeping fit and spending time with my young family.
About me...
Mr R Colley
Head of School
I have been teaching at Winyates Primary School since 2011 and thoroughly enjoy seeing the progress our children make. I have a real passion for PE and believe these are so important for all children and I am keen in developing a love of this in everyone I teach. In addition to this, I especially enjoy taking the children to tournaments where they always make me proud.
Finally, my love of sport continues outside of school where I play for the City of Peterborough Hockey Club.
About me...
Mr M Carson-Doughty
Assistant Headteacher
As a huge believer in kindness, excellence, courage and ambition, I couldn't think of a better school to be a part of. After spending the last 7 years as a class teacher/team leader at St. John's, I am so excited to become part of the Winyates family as assistant headteacher as well as teach English and Maths in year 5. I have a passion for reading and love nothing more than being tucked up under a cosy blanket with my little dog Luna and a good book.

Miss Peyser
Assistant Headteacher & Year 5 Teacher
My name is Mrs Rawlins-Found and I will be in the EYFS team in September. I love to read books and those who know me will know that Harry Potter is one of my all time favourites! Disney films are something else I enjoy, especially Finding Nemo, The Jungle Book and the Emperor’s New Groove. In my spare time, I like to crochet blankets and toys and bake (eat!) cakes. My favourite lessons are numeracy and art and I love to read children’s creative writing.
About me...
Mrs D Rawlinson-Found
EYFS Teacher
After teaching within EYFS for 14 years and I still have a continued passion for helping young children take their first steps as a learner. It is so rewarding to help make a difference in children's lives – seeing them enthusiastic and motivated about each new experience. I aim to inspire children to become curious about their learning within a nurturing environment for them to thrive in. I am looking forward to joining the ‘Winyates family’ to continue to give children endless opportunities to become lifelong learners.
About me...
Miss S Mason
EYFS Teacher
I’m Mrs Bretherton and I cannot wait to join Winyates this year in Year 1. I love teaching and can’t believe I ever did anything else. One of my favourite things about teaching is developing and nurturing children’s curiosity; in the classroom, in the forest, in the stories we read and non-fiction books we explore. I love reading and I love sharing my favourite books and love of reading with the children I teach. I am really looking forward to starting our journey together at Winyates this year.
About me...
Mrs Bretherton
Year 1 Teacher
From a young age I have always wanted to work with children in a school setting. I joined Winyates in September 2023. I love helping children progress and watching them grow. It makes me proud to be part of the Winyates team.
About me...
Miss Lovelle
Year 1 Teacher
I am so excited to be joining the Winyates family this year. This will be my 4th year teaching having spent the past 3 years at St Johns. I was inspired to be a teacher during my gap year in France where I taught French children English. This experience was where I realised how passionate I was about teaching and what a privilege it was to be able to work with children and watch their curiosity and love for learning grow. My main goal in teaching is to make a positive impact in children's lives and encourage children to reach their full potential and achieve anything they set their mind to. As well as teaching I enjoy walking my dog, Jasper, baking, reading and playing netball
About me...
Miss Mann
Year 2 Teacher
I have worked very closely with Winyates for the last 5 years and now teaching here is a very exciting opportunity. Ever since I was young I wanted to help inspire the future generation and make them the best that they could possibly be. As well as learning, I enjoy researching about history and supporting the greatest football team in the world - Peterborough United!
About me...
Mr Mucklin
Year 3 Teacher
I am thrilled to be joining the Winyates team this year, I have been teaching for 5 years now and it really is a passion of mine. I am excited to see children thrive in an inspiring learning environment and explore their curiosities. One of the things that brings me most joy is watching children thrive when learning new things and I can't wait to share my passion for reading. One of my favourite books is Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo and I am excited to share this with as many children as possible!
About me...
Miss Cross
Year 4 Teacher
I love seeing children develop as they realise their potential, becoming confident and independent as they take on new challenges, whether in or outside of school. In my previous career I volunteered as a reading buddy and a governor at my son's school which is when I realised how wonderful it was working with children, watching their curiosity and learning grow so I decided to retrain and become a teacher. I am determined to give the children in my class the best opportunities during their time with me at school. I am always inspired by how much we learn from them too as we see how they show kindness, courage and determination every day.
About me...
Mrs Proud
Year 6 Teacher
I've always had a desire to help people reach their full potential. My journey into teaching began when I worked as an outdoor activities instructor after leaving school. I've done a few different jobs since then, but something has always kept pulling me back to teaching. I retrained and haven't looked back since. I endeavour for the children I teach to have a positive mental attitude and develop the resilience they'll need to face the challenges of the future.
About me...
Mr Gregory
Year 6 Teacher
This is my first time exclusively teaching PE, as I have previously been a year 4 classroom teacher in Cambridge. I love all sports and hope I can instill the love of sport into the children at Winyates so that they feel confident and enthusiastic about PE. My favourite sport is football and I play for Camborne Town FC, which recently won grassroots club of the year.
About me...
Mr Hodgkins
PE Teacher
I always enjoyed PE in school whether it was learning in a classroom or taking part in active sessions. When I had the opportunity to do teaching like this for a job I couldn’t turn it down as I always enjoyed helping out with the younger students with their PE lessons at school andnow I’m loving every minute of it.
My favourite sport is football, I’ve watched and played it my whole life and have been a season ticket holder at Peterborough United for the last 6 years. The best game I’ve ever watched live in those 6 years was when we scored a 90th minute penalty against Lincoln to draw 3-3 securing us promotion to the Championship.
About me...
Mr Roe
PE Teacher
At school I was unsure about what I wanted to do but from the moment I greeted my first class I knew that I had found my dream job, teaching!
I believe that as a teacher working at St John's I am privileged to have the opportunity to work with wonderful children, families and professionals. I am passionate about providing the very best educational opportunities for every child and instilling a love of life long learning.
About me...
Mrs Walton
SENCo
Initially after leaving school, my career was very different to where I am very privileged to be working now. My work has always incorporated both listening and communicating with a vast range of people, which has underpinned my values of reciprocity, resilience and trust. In 2011, through the love and interest of my own three children, I started my career within the school environment. My enthusiasm for my role has encouraged me to continuously professionally develop myself and has enabled me to work at St John's within a friendly team; who are dedicated to ensuring that the pupils of St John's receive both the best academic and pastoral opportunities.

After qualifying from University I worked in the NHS, before joining the "Winyates Family" 5 years ago. I am very proud to be part of such a great team.
