London's Burning, London's Burning... in Year 2!

Writer's picture: Mr Carson-DoughtyMr Carson-Doughty

Updated: Apr 1, 2021

Over this term in Year 2, we have been delving into the Great Fire of London. Our journey started when we were still at home during lockdown, but as writer, as historians and a readers we immersed ourselves into exploring what life was like in the 16th century and how the fire started. We explored how life was different in the 16th century to how it is now, and learnt all about the architecture and culture.

To conclude our topic of the Great Fire we made our own boxes and used our scientific knowledge to chose which material to use, we chose to make them out of paper and cardboard so that would burn easily like the wooden buildings that used to be in London before the fire.
