Peterborough United EFL Cup

On Tuesday 10th December our Year 5/6 football team travelled to the Idverde Training Ground, home of Peterborough United.

There were 22 schools in total and teams were split into 4 different groups. In our first match it was a very close game that finished 1-1 against Elton Primary School. Next up we played Beeches Primary School and the team collaborated brilliantly and managed to win 3-0, before following this up with a tight 1-0 victory against Baston Primary School. We then clinched a 2-0 win against Castor before ending the group phase with a 0-0 draw against Hampton Hargate Primary School.

This meant that our team finished 1st place in the group and progressed through to the quarter finals, where we would play Eye Primary School. The match was very close and despite some great chances the score was 0-0 as we ended the game meaning we would go onto penalties. Unfortunately, the team narrowly lost on penalties and finished in 5th place overall.

All of the children played incredibly well throughout and should be incredibly proud of their efforts. Before leaving a few of our players were even lucky enough to meet Peterborough United player Abraham Odoh.
