On Friday 26th May our Year 5/6 NFL Flag team travelled to the home of the Northants Knights NFL team in Wellingborough for the Eastern Region Finals after their exceptional performance as Champions of the Peterborough Tournament.
We were initially placed in a group where the children played 3 matches. In their first match the children won 12-6, before a narrow 13-6 loss in the second game. However, the children bounced back immediately to win their final group game 28-0, which meant that we progressed through to the semi finals.
During our semi final match up the children were impressive once again and managed to achieve an incredible 34-2 victory that sealed our spot in the final.
Unfortunately, despite our best efforts and some very close calls the children lost out in the final, with the final result being 16-6 to Houghton Primary School. Despite this the children should feel very proud of themselves. Houghton are the current reiging national champions and in our first year competiting the children really ran them close.
